2022-2023 Marching Band Percussion Placement Auditions & Spring Training
All percussionists in 8th-11th grade should plan on attending
This is a very important process for our band program. Placement auditions and spring training allow our students and staff to appropriately begin marching band preparation. With 100% attendance at the spring events, our staff can formulate and execute a plan that will set our students up for success!
Spring Training & Audition Dates:
May 9, 10, 11 & May 16, 17, 18
5:00pm-8:00pm at the Newsome HS Band Room
All students should be prepared to audition for their preferred section (Front Ensemble: Mallets, Aux Perc, Synth … or Drums: Snare, Tenors, Bass). If you are unsure of which section would be best, we will help you figure that out at auditions!
ALL STUDENTS WILL BE GIVEN A SPOT however, auditioning for a particular section does not guarantee a spot in that section. Students will be assessed throughout the training and will be given a spot based on commitment, attitude, improvement, attention to detail and overall playing ability.

Students should be prepared to play everything in the designated packets. READ THE ENTIRE PACKET.
ATHLETIC CLEARANCE REQUIRED
All Percussion members will need athletic clearance from the School District of Hillsborough County, and renew this clearance each year. If you are new to band, please visit this page to complete the steps before auditions. If you already have clearance from the 2021-2022 school year, you do not need to complete this process before Spring Auditions, but WILL need to be update by Band Camp, which starts July 18.
